Holy Moly, Guacamole!

Avocados are the most beautiful creamy and buttery fruit that exists (in my opinion). Though they may be high in calories, let’s not forget that they are also high in fibre and potassium. A favourite way to eat avocados is to mash it all up, add fresh lemon juice, sea salt and black pepper, and spread it over some whole grain toast. Another favourite way (yes, there’s many) to eat this creamy and luscious fruit is to make guacamole. Guac! Yup. It’s good for dip, and on many more things in this world (pretty much). Let’s show some love for this beautiful little un-fruity fruit. Serve with tacos, in burritos, over salads, to dip your fries in, or with tortilla chips.


2 avocados, pitted

1.5 tbsp fresh lime juice

1 tsp minced garlic

1.5 tbsp red onion, finely chopped

1 tsp seeded jalapeño, finely chopped

pinch of thyme (fresh or dried)

sea salt, to taste

whole grain tortilla (to roast, or buy whole grain tortilla chips)


1. Cut the avocado, remove the pit and scoop out the meat with a spoon.

2. Mash avocado with a spoon in a mortar and pestle or bowl.

3. Add lime juice, red onion, garlic, jalapeño, thyme and sea salt. Mix it up!

4. Serve immediately with tortilla!
